Old cat batch files to C:\wildcat if you customized them F. All display files to C:\wildcat\disp that you customized (Note there is no setting to control the use of quotes.* now. Wildcat displays the file if it is present and does not display it if it is not present so make sure you delete the default version if you do not wish to use it.) (Note conflist.* is now conflst.*.) (Note none of the alt#.* files perform auto log off now. If some of your old ones did you will need to edit them to include the new @ code @LOGOFF@ which performs an immediate disconnect.) G. All menu files to C:\wildcat\menu if you do not like the defaults H. All bulletin files to C:\wildcat\bull if you do not like the defaults I. Rename C:\wildcat\menu\message#.* C:\wildcat\menu\msg#.* C. Run makemenu. 1. Change the parameter field for the "? Command Help" pick on the file menu to read file.bbs instead of file. (If you do not change it users will get the message "Sorry no help available today." when entering "?" from the file menu. 2. Change the parameter field for the "? Command Help Help" pick on the menu to read sysop.bbs instead of sysop. (If you do not change it users will get the message "Sorry no help available today." when entering "?" from the sysop menu. 3. Do not change the main and message parameter fields for this pick to main.bbs and message.bbs. (They can remain main and message and still allow users to get help). 10. Edit the following items. A. Your new prompt files (Your prompt files were not converted do to major changes.) (Also be sure and edit the RIP prompts as well as the ANSI prompts so they match.) B. C. All door configurations (The Wildcat path has changed and they need to reference the new path.) D. The main menu (You need only edit this if you are using the default menus.) 1. Add the picks "Verify a User" and UserLog List" (They are missing.) (If you have a single line system you can put them on in place of the picks "Live Chat and Who is on line." (They need to reference the new Wildcat path if they run a Wildcat program.) 11. Set up your Wcpro *.pro files. (Your file matches and stats file were converted by the Wcpro conversion program. Your *.pro files were not converted because some will not work. You can either move them over, test them, and re create those that result in problems, or re create them all from scratch. If you opt to move them you will need to edit those that reference the Wildcat path to reference the new Wildcat Path.) 12. Delete Wildcat 3.0 once everything is working properly and you are sure you don't need it anymore. 13. Wcgate - Be sure that the spool directory in MAKEGATE is [c:\wildcat\gateway\servername] and the directory in FXUUCP.CFG is [c:\wildcat\gateway] (no server sub directory) Otherwise UUCICO puts the incoming packets one directory deeper than wcGate. Copy all the old system, fxuucp.cfg, scripts and permits if you used the old FXUUCICO. Change directory references where needed. 14. All the old news groups will have to be keyed in again so have a list handy. Make no errors or your groups will be received, marked as sent at the server, and dumped into the ether by wcGATE. 15. Unresolved problems. A. The file conversion data base did not carry over the number of downloads and they were reset to 0 after we keyed them in manually. (We later discovered that this was caused by a setting in the wcPRO command file for creating allfiles.lst that reset all file downloads not the upgrade program.) B. FAXSERVE locks up the machine. C. QOTD (from Crown BBS- Time door) in RIP mode hides a request for a Y or N response behind the Good Day/Nite screen. Users see C to Continue but can't, hang up, and call back. When they do so QOTD sees them as a second visit for the day and does not display the Question enabling C to continue to work fine. (The update QOTD 2.1 fixed these problems as of 10/3/94) D. wcPro stats put in 8,569 other callers that did not exist. (not a doubling of an existing figure) (I fixed this by redoing the stats. First I moved all the old zipped activity logs from disk to my personal system. Then I unzipped the logs and used a concatination program to make one file out of them called activity.1 for our one node. Finnaly I got wcPRO working on that system by copying its files and started processing of the psc file. Once this was done after a night's work I had new stats files which I could copy to the BBS system for stats off only by the calls made durring the night's processing. I could have run the stats on the BBS system, but this would have left it down for a long time.)
